Alpha Surfaces – Care & Maintenance Guide

Overview

Alpha Surfaces are engineered for durability and ease of maintenance. Featuring advanced AlphaShield™ technology, these surfaces are protected by a unique barrier that helps repel stains and contaminants.

In most cases, maintaining a clean surface requires nothing more than a damp cloth and warm water.

Daily Cleaning

For everyday care:

• Wipe the surface using a soft cloth or paper towel with warm water.

• Use a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for quartz surfaces if needed.

While most neutral cleaners have a pH of 7, their effectiveness can vary. AlphaShield™ allows compatibility with a broad range of cleaning products, offering resistance to chemicals and mild acids within a pH range of 1-13.

Tip: Always check the cleaner’s pH level and follow manufacturer instructions.

Spill Management

Immediate Action

Clean spills as soon as possible to prevent drying:

• Use a microfibre cloth or non-abrasive pad.

• Apply a pH-balanced cleaner if required.

• Denatured alcohol may be used for tougher residues.

Stubborn Stains & Dried Spills

• Apply a multi-purpose cleaner or mild detergent.

• Gently scrub using a soft sponge if necessary.

• Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.

Avoid allowing cleaning products to dry on the surface.

Removing Grease

For cooking grease:

• Use a multi-purpose degreaser (pH 1–13).

• Follow instructions carefully.

• Rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Permanent Markers & Ink

• Clean immediately using standard daily cleaning methods.

• If marks persist: Use a non-abrasive cleaner diluted with warm water.

• Gently dab, do not rub in circular motions as this may dull the surface polish.

• Rinse thoroughly.

Periodic Cleaning

For high-use or high-gloss areas:

• Perform a deeper clean monthly using a heavy-duty, non-abrasive cleaner.

• When using cleaning machines: Use soft pads or plastic brushes only.

• Avoid wax strippers or harsh chemicals.

• Always rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Actions to Avoid

To protect your Alpha Surfaces benchtop:

Do NOT:

• Use abrasive pads or harsh scrubbing tools.

• Apply sealers, waxes, or polishing treatments.

• Use acetone (may damage resin and leave residue).

• Expose surfaces to: Bleach

• Oven cleaners

• Paint removers or furniture strippers (especially those containing trichloroethane or methylene chloride)

• Products containing pumice or harsh abrasives

• Tarnish or silver cleaners

• Batteries or corrosive chemicals

If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water.

Material Characteristics

Alpha Surfaces are made from premium minerals and recycled materials, designed to replicate the natural beauty of stone.

• Variations in colour, pattern, and texture are natural and expected.

• Samples may not fully represent the installed product.

• These variations do not affect performance and are not considered defects.

Durability & Usage Considerations

• Highly durable but not chip-proof or scratch-proof.

• Avoid impact, especially along edges near sinks or dishwashers.

• Knife use may dull blades but can still mark the surface.

• Seams may be visible and vary slightly in tone or pattern.

Alpha Surfaces are non-porous, meaning:

• No sealing or polishing is required.

• The surface maintains its natural gloss over time.

Heat Protection

Alpha Surfaces are not heat-proof.

Always:

• Use trivets or heat pads.

• Avoid placing hot items (e.g. pans, trays, air fryers) directly on the surface.

• Prolonged radiating heat from appliances can damage the surface due to the resin content on the material.
